The goal for this week was to increase the amount of time I spent at the gym. It did not go very well, but I am still losing weight, though it is slowing down. I know weight is really a terrible measure, but it has to mean something. I do notice, even though the weight has plateaued this week, that my pants are starting to loosen up and I may need a belt soon.

I love this time a year. I hope this is a time of peace for everyone and you have a great holiday season. It has been an interesting and challenging year, but I think a rewarding one with much growth.
I have been working hard to better my 5k time every Friday. I try to workout doing weights and a little running during the week and then on Friday I run a 5K on the treadmill. I got a little discouraged last week because my time was terrible and I kept getting shin splints when I ran. Still I continued on and these are my results:
Decided for various reasons not to try a 5K yesterday. My goal has been to complete a 5K every week. I began last week and I thought I did OK. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 47 min. I don't remember completely. That all changed.
It was a bit unusual for me this week. It was 10 pm and I had not been to the gym, so I decided to go. I have not been that late and there really wasn't anyone there. I have had the goal of running a 5k in 45 min on the treadmill and so far have not reached it. I decided to give it a go on Wed.
I was feeling really good on Tuesday, like super good, so I decided when we went to the gym that I wanted to try to complete a 5k on the treadmill. When we go on our cardio days I typically walk at 3 mph for 45 - 50 min. This is enough to get the blood moving, and with the ups and downs of the treadmill it gives me a decent workout for a beginner.
Something pretty cool happened at the gym yesterday. Last month my wife and I went to the gym doing cardio 3 times a week and weights 2 times a week. This was just to get us into going to the gym and being consistent.
Yesterday was a telling day. My wife and I had taken last week off from the gym and life, because we were ill. It would be so easy to fall into the trap of not caring anymore, but we wanted to get back to where we left off.
