How to Write Poetry – A Word Game

“Will write my story for my better self, As when you paint your portrait for a friend, Who keeps it in a drawer and looks at it Long after he has ceased to love you, just To hold together what he was and is.”

Elizabeth Browning in Aurora Leigh

The idea is to create poetry by organizing random words. I took the 3rd word from 20 pages of a book and was left with these words: (Minutes, These , Go , Do , Band , Mention ,Three ,Your , When, Parts, That, The, Did, Theme, Going , Recent, Have , Know, Tell, Will).

I then Re-organized them and came up with the following:

The Band did mention going. Will minutes tell your recent theme? Do know that when these go, three have parts.

Give it a try. What would you have done differently?
